Information Technology works with faculty to enhance teaching and research and dissemination of faculty work. We offer various levels of support from guidance to full-fledged project development and assistance with simple to complex uses of technology. For new faculty, here are Frequently Asked Questions.

If you have a project or approach for your course that involves technology, we would be happy to work with you to develop the technological tool. We are also available to brainstorm ideas with you. The examples below show the different types of services we have provided for various courses.
Geology Professor, Dr. Peter Lea, checks a remote field datalogger at Crystal Springs Farm near Brunswick. The datalogger is one of several deployed with help from IT to automate near-real-time data collection and subsequently make monitoring data available to Bowdoin scientists.For various research projects, we have assisted with data management, analytical tools, communication, and dissemination. For quantitative data-intensive research, we have designed efficient database management system to ensure data integrity and have set up field instruments so that they communicate with the network. For both qualitative and quantitative research, we offer tools and services for analysis and visualization, such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or a custom-built scroll viewer.
