About

Bodies of water were a source of continuing inspiration to Winslow Homer, and this exhibition, drawn from the Museum’s extensive Homer holdings, focuses on these motifs. Particular attention is paid to how the artist used these settings to characterize female subjects and explore some of the attributes of the “new woman.” Included are works in all media ranging from wood engraving to watercolor and oil painting.
